ASICS GT2000 11 Review: A Lighter, Comfier Everyday Running Shoe

The ASICS GT2000 11 has had a glow up and I’m here for it!

When it comes to running shoes, I’m usually a Gel Kayano gal, but I’ve always had a soft spot for the ASICS GT2000. It’s super supportive for those midweek miles, leaving my beloved Kayanos free for Sunday long runs. But after trying the newly released GT2000 11, I might need to rethink my shoe rotation!

What’s New in the ASICS GT2000 11?

Let’s talk about the game-changing updates.

  • FF BLAST midsole: Adds an extra millimetre of cushioning without weighing the shoe down. The result? Softer, lighter, and way more comfortable.
  • LITETRUSS technology: Embedded in the midsole, this firm material prevents excessive inward foot rolling – a blessing for runners with flat arches or overpronation.

Basically, ASICS has managed to make a stability shoe feel almost like running on clouds.

Enhanced Comfort and Support

The redesigned breathable mesh upper adapts to your foot and even uses recycled materials – so your runs can be eco-friendly too. It stretches nicely for slightly wider feet, and there’s also a wide sizing option if you need it.

Some key comfort features:

  • Heel stability: The newly bevelled heel smooths out your landings.
  • Forefoot flexibility: Flex grooves make the heel-to-toe transition seamless.

Whether it’s short midweek runs or longer sessions, the GT2000 11 keeps your feet happy from start to finish.

Technical Specifications

  • Weight: 235g (based on a ladies UK size 6)
  • Heel height: 22 mm
  • Forefoot height: 14 mm
  • Heel-to-toe drop: 8 mm
  • Category: Stability
  • Surface: Road

These numbers might seem small, but combined, they make a noticeable difference in comfort and support.

My Experience with the ASICS GT2000 11

I’ve worn the GT2000 11 for about a month, across various distances and weather conditions, and here’s what I found:

  • Cushioning & support: The FF BLAST foam offers the perfect mix of springiness and softness.
  • Grip: Even in damp conditions, I felt secure on the roads.
  • Fit: True to size, with plenty of toe room (I usually size up a full UK size in running shoes).
  • Value: Compared to the Kayano 29, the GT-2000 11 feels softer underfoot and comes at a more budget-friendly price.

Overall, it’s an everyday trainer that doesn’t compromise on comfort or support.

Is the GT2000 11 Right for You?

If you’re after a reliable, stable trainer that’s great for daily running, the GT2000 11 is worth a look. With a variety of colour options and all the comfort tweaks, it’s hard to go wrong.

I’d say it’s perfect for:

  • Midweek miles
  • Runners who overpronate
  • Anyone looking for a supportive shoe at a slightly lower price point than the Kayanos
