How to make your ASICS FrontRunner application stand out from the rest

Are you a passionate about running? Are you a fan of the Meta-Speed or love a long run in your Nimbus? As someone who was part of the ASICS FrontRunner team for five years (and had the privilege of being team captain) I know first hand what the programme is really about – and it’s not just about running fast or posting pretty pictures.

If the idea of being part of a global community that wants to inspire others excites you, then these ASICS FrontRunner application tips will help you put your best foot forward.

Why Join ASICS FrontRunner?

Becoming an ASICS FrontRunner opens the door to some pretty incredible opportunities. Think seasonal running shoes and apparel, regional team meet-ups, international training camps and meetings, free race bibs for selected ASICS events around the world and much more.

With over 600 members across 33 countries, the FrontRunner community is a global collective of runners who believe in the power of movement to positively impact both body and mind. You’re never just running for yourself, you’re part of something bigger.

Tips to make your ASICS FrontRunner application stand out

If you’re thinking of applying and want to stand out from the crowd, here are a few tips:

  • Dig deeper into your running journey Rather than simply saying you love running, go a layer deeper. What does running actually give you? Confidence, headspace, resilience, community? Share personal moments that show how running has shaped your life and mindset.
  • Show your impact: ASICS FrontRunners are chosen for the difference they make, not just their pace. Think about how you encourage others to move. This could be through leading a run group, supporting beginners, fundraising, volunteering, or sharing honest and motivating content online. Real impact always shines through.
  • Be authentic: There’s no one type of FrontRunner. Your story, background, and reasons for running are what make you interesting. Whether you’re passionate about inclusivity, mental health, returning to running after setbacks, or simply making the sport feel more accessible, lean into that.
  • Don’t use AI to write your application: This one really matters. Having sat and read thousands of applications over the years, it was always obvious when answers had been written by AI. They tend to sound polished but generic and often lack personality. Your real voice, even if it feels messy or imperfect, will always stand out more.
  • Already love the brand: When applications are being reviewed, profiles do get checked. If there’s no sign that you already wear or engage with ASICS, no link to the brand and your feed is full of rival kit, it does stand out. It can come across like you’re only in it for the free shoes. You don’t need to be a walking advert, but showing genuine, long term love for the brand really matters.
  • Show your commitment: The programme values people who get involved. Talk about how you’d show up, whether that’s at races, local events, Parkrun or within the online community. It’s about being present and engaged, not perfect.
  • Connect with the community: Get involved before you even apply. Follow and engage with current FrontRunners, show up to local running events, and be part of the conversation. Genuine enthusiasm is easy to spot.

This is your opportunity to be part of something extraordinary!

Just a reminder, your Instagram must be public when you apply, and applications close soon.
