Half Marathon Pace Chart – Find Your Perfect Race Pace

Whether you’re training for your very first half marathon or chasing a shiny new PB, knowing your pace is a must. A pace chart takes the guesswork out of race day and helps you plan your splits so you can run smart from the first mile to the finish line.

I’ve pulled together this easy-to-use half marathon pace chart so you can see exactly how fast you need to run for your goal time, in both minutes per mile and minutes per kilometre. No complicated maths required, just find your target finish time and match it to the pace you need to stick to.

Why use a half marathon pace chart?

A pace chart on race day helps you:

  • Set realistic goals based on your training
  • Avoid starting too fast and burning out halfway
  • Stay consistent so you can finish strong
  • Train smarter by running your race pace in training

Even if you’re not sure of your goal time yet, a pace chart can help you work backwards. For example, if you know you can comfortably hold a 9-minute mile in training, you’ll see from the chart that puts you on track for a sub-2-hour half marathon.

How to use this chart in training

Pick your goal pace, then start adding sections of it into your long runs. For example, if you’re aiming for 8:18 per mile, try running the last few miles of your long run at that pace so you know exactly how it feels. This way, race day won’t be a shock to the system.

And remember, your pace might feel easy at mile 2, but the real magic is holding it when your legs start to tire. That’s where pacing pays off.

Good luck with your training, and happy running!
