This week I’m talking about a new brand on my radar – Tribal Sports Nutrition. They got in touch and asked if I would like to try their Natural Fuel energy smoothies.
They are described on their website as ‘A wholesome and energising real-food fruit compote made by blending 100% organic ingredients, and packed with beneficial macronutrients from Africa’s Baobab fruit.’

I’ll be honest I had no clue what Baobab (pronounced Bey-Oh-Bab,) was so I looked it up.
Put simply, it is a superfruit renowned for a whole host of nutritional benefits. It is an excellent
source of vitamin C, calcium, potassium, thiamin, fibre and vitamin B6. Which is all fantastic as I’m always looking for ways to squeeze more of those into my diet.

The smoothies contain the same amount of natural energy as your standard gel or energy drink, but with none of the artificial nastiness.

They are available in four flavours; Morello Cherry, Pineapple flavour, Mango and Mixed Berries and I got sent the Morello Cherry and Pineapple to try out.
The product comes in a 100g squeezy pouch with a screw top – which is perfect to grab and go.  What I loved about this product was its versatility. The tribal range is designed to complement your everyday foods. You can eat them on their own as a healthy snack or you can add it to your porridge or yoghurt.

I tried the Morello Cherry on its own for a much-needed energy boost an hour before a run. The Pineapple one I added to a yoghurt with granola – just to be fancy. Both were delicious. I really like things with a lot of flavour – and these certainly pack a fruity.

The smoothie is bursting with energy and is twice the size of a normal gel, I’m not sure if I would carry one on a road race, as it was a bit of a squeeze to get it in and out of my running belt. They would, however, be perfect for trail runs as I usually have a bag with me. The handy screw top means, unlike a gel, you don’t have to have it all in one go!

I really enjoyed both flavours – so a huge thank you to Tribal for sending me them –  I would happily repurchase them myself.

They are 100% natural and contain no artificial colours or preservatives. They are suitable for vegetarians and are vegan-friendly. If you would like to try them for yourselves visit: Tribal Sports Nutrition
