My name is Rachel and I am a chocoholic. There, I said it.

I whole heartedly admit my love of the stuff, so when Cocoa+ got in touch and asked if I’d like to try their protein chocolate I couldn’t say no.

Protein is an essential part of a runner’s diet as it promotes fast muscle recovery. So being able to boost my protein intake by eating chocolate – is like my prayers have been answered. 🙏

The chocolate provides 19g of protein (from whey from grass-fed cows) in each 70g bar. I was sent a selection – although one bar didn’t make the photo as I ate it. That’s a sign as to how good this stuff is.

The verdict:
Looks like chocolate, smells like chocolate, shiny like chocolate and it’s got a good snap.
I like the packaging (and I know what I am talking about – I’m a designer!)

Taste-wise I was actually impressed. My favourite was the orange crisp, it melted in the mouth and was less bitter than the 70% cocoa. I polished off a whole bar in record time (I’m forever PB chasing). I’m definitely going to try the mint crisp as I think that would be my new favourite.

The hearts were foil wrapped – I think they were meant for sharing… oops. These seemed to melt better and as they were individually wrapped there was no temptation to eat the whole bar.

Overall I was pleasantly surprised with the cocoa+ range. Especially as their products contain no artificial sweeteners. Which is good news for me as I stay clear of all diet soft drinks due to fake sugar.
