November = Movember. The time of year where you grow that moustache for a great cause. I really tried my very best, but I failed on the ‘tache growing front. Fortunately, by taking part in Mo Run Leedscould still get involved in Movember.

MoRunning marks its 10th anniversary this year, with running events taking part in 24 locations across the UK. I was asked to be an ambassador for the Mo Run Leeds event in Roundhay Park. It’s a stunning location for an event, spanning 700 acres of rolling parkland, lakes and woodland.

If you’re looking for your first 10k challenge, it’s a great event. Suitable for all abilities, you can run or jog your way around the course with no pressure. More importantly, it’s about raising money for a great cause. It’s a real family event starting with 1.5 km Mini MoRun (the kids loved it)followed by races of km and 10 km

Mo Run Leeds: Let’s mo!

I was taking part in the 10 km race which was 2 loops of the 5 km course. Apart from the surprise hill, it was a beautiful route. Due to heavy rainfall, the course was very muddy in places, especially around the lake but everyone took it in good spirits. There was a great atmosphere with loads of smiles, some cracking fancy dress and plenty of moustaches!

Mo running Leeds

Must-dash!

It was a fun event, may not be one for the serious speedsters as it’s not a closed course.  Runners were advised to keep left as the park was still open to the public (they’ve as much right to be there too). You also needed to keep an eye out for dogs – in particular, extendable dog leads. They really aren’t a runner’s best friend, as I found out!

All participants received a medal. There were spot prizes for best costume and fastest Mo.

MoRunning proudly supports The Movember Foundation – the only charity tackling men’s health on a global scale, year-round. The Foundation raises funds & awareness for prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and suicide prevention.

*Race entry gifted as I was an ambassador for the event.
