Happy New Year! Hope you all had a lovely Christmas and here’s to a fabulous new year!

A new year, a fresh calendar, it is like starting over with a clean slate. I’m not really a fan of new year’s resolutions, neither do I buy into the whole ‘new year, new me’ thing. I personally think you can make changes any time of the year – every day is a new start, there is no need to wait for January.

That said, I have set myself a few goals for 2018… none of them life changing but they are certainly achievable!

Run parkrun once a month
My local parkruns involve driving a fair way to get there, which puts me off, I may as well run 5k around my local area and save myself an hour or so of driving time. However, what parkrun does have is other runners and a great atmosphere. So, I am going to try and go to one a month. I have three new ones near me now, so I’m looking forward to giving them a try.

Enter more local races
I’m not a race junkie, I run because I want to, not because of FOMO. However, races are a great way of giving you focus or something to work towards. Running events can be costly, I’m lucky there are a lot of smaller, local events near me which I intend to take part in this year. They’re fairly cheap too, so I’m not bothered if there isn’t a medal at the end, I’m there for the atmosphere.

Meet new people
The reason for the above two goals. It’s always nice to meet like-minded people. If you see me at an event or parkrun please give me a wave or say hi!

Stretch more
I’m still terrible at stretching… until I feel a niggle and then I’m all over it. Incorporating yoga into my routine is the plan, not only does it provide a damn good stretch, it is really good for your core.

So there you have it – what are your goals for the year ahead? I’d love to know!
